Wedding of Giuliana & Romano
The Wedding ceremony will take place in
the church Santi Giovanni
e Paolo al Celio in Rome. You see - one Saint is not enough for us.
The church is actually an ancient basilica in Rome, located on the
Caelian Hill - or to be more precise for the navigator, GPS etc.:
Piazza Santi Giovanni e Paolo, 00184 Roma or
41° 53′ 11,3″ N,
12° 29′ 31,5″ O ...
The church was
built in 398, by will of the Senator Pammachius, over the home of two
Roman soldiers, John and Paul (Giovanni e Paolo), martyred under the
emperor Julian in 362.
The church was damaged during the sack
by Alaric I (410) and because of an earthquake (442) restored by Pope
Paschal I (824), sacked again by the Normans (1084) and again
restored, with the addition of a monastery and a bell tower.
Furthermore the church is home to the Passionists
and the burial place of St. Paul of the Cross.
Being the church so dear to both Romans and Barbarians, we thought it
would be the perfect place for us to get marry. See you there on
December 1st at
15:30.
